CENTRAL

SHEUNG WAN

Allow 1 hour for a short overview and 2.5 hours for an in-depth exploration with a dim sum experience.

VICTORIA PEAK

Allow 1 hour for a standard visit and 1.5 hours to include our special lookout point.

SOUTH SIDE OF THE ISLAND

Allow 1.5 hours to see Aberdeen and 3 to 4 hours to cover all of the locations.

  • Visit Aberdeen Harbour, home to a fishing community, traditional sampan boats, high-end marina clubs, luxury yachts and floating restaurants. Take a short cruise through the harbour to JUMBO the infamous floating restaurant.

SHAM SHUI PO

Allow 30 minutes for a quick overview and 1.5 hours for an in-depth exploration.

KOWLOON WALLED CITY PARK

Allow 1.5 to 2 hours.

  • Visit Kowloon Walled City Park, the former site of the notorious Kowloon Walled City Slum which was demolished in the 1990s.

  • Learn about Kowloon’s history including just how it became a part of the British empire and how a tiny piece of land became a lawless slum infested with opium dens, brothels, pornography rackets and illegal drug manufacturers.

  • Understand what ‘normal life’ looked like inside the Walled City Slum, find out who lived there and how they made a living.

  • Kowloon Walled City Slum was featured in several films including the 1988 Bloodsport and Jackie Chan’s Crime Story.

 

WONG TAI SIN

Allow 45 minutes to only visit the temple and 1h 15 to include a visit to Chuk Yuen Shanty Town.

  • Explore Hong Kong’s most visited temple; Wong Tai Sin. Learn about the religions of Taoism and Buddhism.

  • Understand the importance of offerings and fortune telling in Hong Kong’s culture.

  • Try Kau Cim (Chinese Fortune Sticks). Come prepared with a question as the sticks and our local fortune teller will have an answer for you! This is an optional activity. The fortune teller costs approx. HK$30 per stick / answer.

CHEUNG CHAU ISLAND

Allow 5 hours to travel to and from Cheung Chau island by ferry and explore the island.

  • Enjoy a day out of the city and discover the many secrets of Cheung Chau on this half-day private tour. Primarily known for its annual four-day bun festival the island also has a fascinating history filled with smuggling and piracy, suicide, and racial segregation

  • Choose to explore the island on foot or by bike (bike rental is included)

  • Enjoy a sampan tour around the western tip of the island and learn more about the most infamous privates of the South China Sea and their connections with Cheung Chau Island

  • Try two of Cheung Chau’s most famous foods; the steamed bun of bun festival fame, and a freshly made mango mochi.

  • Visit the Pak Tai Temple and learn about the origins of the quirky bun festival and why rituals persist hundreds of years later.

  • Find one of the controversial Boundary Stones and decide if you think they represent racial or economic division. And in a more gruesome twist, find out why the island earned the nickname ‘Death Island’.

  • For those who have the opportunity to visit during the month of April or May, we highly recommend doing the tour for Cheung Chau Bun Festival.

 

HAPPY VALLEY

Not a geographic district but a theme for an exciting 3-hour evening tour across Hong Kong island finishing at the racecourse for race night.

Happy Valley Horse Racing With A Guided Walking Tour

Experience the thrill and excitement of horse racing in Hong Kong at the famous Happy Valley racecourse. In this 3-hour Happy Valley-themed private walking tour, you will be transported back to 1846, when the British troops arrived into Hong Kong, set up base, and started racing horses. As you travel across Hong Kong Island from Central, through Wan Chai, and to Happy Valley, your expert guide will give you insight into what Hong Kong was like in those early colonial days and show what present-day life is like for the locals today. 

  • Learn about the cities colonial history as Hong Kong became a part of the British Empire and British sports such as horse racing were brought to Hong Kong.

  • Visit a local bakery in Wan Chai and taste the famous local delicacy 'wife cake'. Sample some of Hong Kong's most popular street food.

  • See the villain-hitting “sorceress” and watch them perform a unique type of demon exorcising folk sorcery using a slipper! (This is family-friendly).

  • Visit Happy Valley Cemetry to learn about two fascinating men who played a huge part in building Hong Kong into the megacity that it is today. 

  • Finish your tour at Happy Valley racecourse (entrance included) where your guide will teach you how to place a bet on the horses and wish you good luck for a big win. 

This tour starts at 3.30 pm at Central Station (Statue Square) and finishes at 6.30 pm at Happy Valley Race Course. The first race of the night is at 7.15 pm. If you would like your guide to pick you up at your hotel lobby simply book the tour option with a hotel meet-up. This tour is only available on race nights. Race nights are every Wednesday between September and July.
